8-Period Fun

Yes, I am talking about school life. Remember those five hours and eight period fun that we all experienced in our early life. School, a place or should I say a temple where we all were nourished and nurtured evenly. A place where we came crying and some of us might left crying too. A place which taught us the basics of life. This is the first ever place for all of us where we were without our parents, but with loads of friends and some really sweet and caring teachers. School life is very interesting and has many dimensions.

The morning assembly where every one (not every one though) sing national anthem, national song and prayers to start the day. The prefects (students who are supposed to be the best in their respective classes, but actually they are not) then make sure that everyone is in proper dress by checking them out. Those who are not will have to stand with the late comers and face the punishment. Luckily, I never receive any punishment for that reason simply because I skip the assembly when I was not in proper dress. Finally, we move to our classrooms where four torturing period before the recess awaits us, and four after the break. Well, actually it was torture then but, when you think of them it was more colorful than anything in life. Eight different subjects, eight different teachers bombard various important information on us which could prove too helpful in our later life, if only we were more focused and serious about studies. But, who the hell wants to study when you have so much else to do. With so many naughty friends around, you can only think of one thing and that is fun.

Bunking periods, playing pranks, calling teachers by nicknames, receiving punishment for not doing homework, thrown out of the classroom for not bringing the textbook, getting a letter from the principal for breaking the glass of her office while playing cricket, try to fool teachers when caught red handed, getting homework done by girls by buttering them and when teacher caught us by finding that the handwriting changes with every fourth page, saying the most cutest sorry and a never fulfilled promise of doing  homework by our own from the next time, eating the lunch in between class avoiding the teacher, fight with best buddies with a promise not to talk to you again and saying sorry next day, waiting for the recess bell and leave the class without the permission of the teacher, playing all types of feminine games in free period, enjoy when sections of same class combined by one teacher due to the absence of other, praying for the absentee of a teacher to get away with the punishment of not completing the assigned work, spend most of the time in the ground than in the class, fight with the students of other classes for the playing area, pretend to be the most studious student in front of parents when in need of getting their sign on the progress report,  blaming luck for scoring average marks and promise them to study hard from now (that now never came or rather don’t exist in my school time), in between won medal in science fair and celebrate teachers day as an opportunity to talk to some beautiful seniors and giving them fake compliments that too after calling them didi :p, and finally rush to home on the last bell avoiding and forgetting everyone. Where is the time for study?? Or, who the hell wants to study.

Those memories are the real earning of life. The bond and the understanding between friends getting stronger and stronger with every passing year and class. We never trust teachers whenever they said this is the best time of life and we thought that we are in a cell, not free to do anything, not free to go out. We thought college life is the most enjoyable life, but after experiencing both, I can say that all my teachers are right. I am sorry for all my nonsense and thanks for teaching me. I really miss you and my 8-Period Fun...
